"Drive My Car" - The Beatles

"Drive My Car" was written by Paul McCartney (and John Lennon), and was recorded at Abbey Road Studios on 13 October 1965. Definitely an upbeat song which has nothing to do with actually driving a car! :)

I recorded three vocal tracks: 1) Paul's higher pitched vocal and 2) John's lower pitched harmony, as well as 3) George's pre-chorus 2nd harmony.

I also laid down three guitar tracks: the first one for the intro riff and solo - my first slide! And then there are two rhythm guitars: one which mimics the bass line and another with basic chords.

"Let It Be" - The Beatles

I know I already posted this on Facebook and Youtube, but it should've been posted here before... So here it is!

"Let It Be", was originally recorded in 1969, but has been remixed several times. The most prominent difference between all versions can be heard in the guitar solo played by George Harrison. I chose the album version solo, which has more of a rock vibe.

Now with vocals... Finally!!!

Well, after spending a wonderful Saturday with my family I decided to finally record the vocals tracks on some of the songs I had previoulsy recorded.

Most of them feature 2 or 3 backing vocals, and it sure is the kind of sound I like!

Click on each link below to listen:

Strutter - 1974 (Stanley/Simmons)

Cold Gin - 1974 (Frehley)

Shout It Out Loud - 1976 (Stanley/Simmons/Ezrin)

I Want You - 1976 (Stanley)

Got To Choose - 1974 (Stanley)

Take care!!!

Let Me Know (1974)

This is the first song Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons played together, back in 1972, and it was originally called Sunday Driver.

Simple and effective rock and roll!

Three guitars, one lead vocal and three harmonized vocals in the end. Acapella style!

Christine Sixteen (1977)

UPDATE: included a piano track and increased the volume of both bass and lead guitars.

"Written and sung by bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, the song is about an older man with a crush on a sixteen-year old girl named Christine."

Duh!

Okay... I just like this song!

"She" - with video

I love this song!!!

The tempo is slow, but definitely a rocker! First recorded by Gene and Paul's first band - Wicked Lester - in the early seventies, it was officially released as a track from "Dressed To Kill", in 1975

I sing three vocals in harmony, and play rhythm and lead guitars.

Goin' Blind

One more attempt at recording all vocals and guitars...

The video this time was limited to the solo - The vocals were pretty high and I looked like I was in pain while singing! LOL!

Hope you like it. Click here to listen: http://www.castroneves.net/mp3/goinblind.mp3

And here's the solo:

Take care!

Plaster Caster - audio and video!

This song I recorded last week.

It's a KISS song (of course) based on the work of Cynthia Plaster Caster, "an artist and self-described 'recovering groupie' who creates plaster casts of famous persons' penises and breasts."

Click this link to listen: http://www.castroneves.net/mp3/plaster.mp3.

What to do in cold and rainy São Paulo?
Well, I jave just finished recording a song called 2,000 Man, originally recorded by the Rolling Stones and made famous by KISS in 1979.

Back in the New York Groove - with vocals

Hey! I posted this on Facebook last week but should've done it here, as by doing it so it will republish on Facebook! Got it? No? Ahh... nevermind! :)

This song is called "New York Groove", and it was originally recorded by a band called Hello in 1975, but my version in based on a re-recording by Ace Frehley, dated 1978.

I finally got a new mic, and for a first run, I think the harmonies came through alright!

There you go!

Rock on!

Rock And Roll All Nite

Okay... instrumental songs are nice and all, but this one is THE song to sing along to.

Hope you like the vocals. I recorded them with a computer mic (a good one), but it has some limitations.

And since KISS is playing tomorrow night here in Sao Paulo, and in Rio the following day, let's ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT, AND PARTY EVERY DAY!!!

Videocasting?

I have no idea if this would work... But after recording both rhythm guitars, I decided to film the recording of the lead guitar... and with the help of Steve Jobs (i.e. MacBook Pro) this is the result!

I Was Made For Lovin' You!

Even though I do love you all, this is the title of a(nother) song by KISS.
It's pouring here in São Paulo, and my wife is sitting across from me working on her projects.
So I asked her which KISS song she would like for me to record. Of course Beth and Forever were on top of her list, but she likes this one too...
Since I don't have a good microphone, my tracks will remain instrumental. If anyone wishes to record the vocals, please do so and send it to me... I'll adjust pitch, tempo and volume (Cécile - wanna give it a try?).
Buh-bye for now...

I'm back (Part II) and with some "Cold Gin"

Well,
Lot's of changes in my life recently, especially since my wife and I found out we would soon become a power trio!
We're really excited! She's 3 months pregnant, and Gustavo is expected to be born in the beginning of August...
And as you all know, pregnant women shouldn't drink. But at least they can listen to some "Cold Gin", right?
Hope you link it! Just click on the post's title!
Cheers!

Strutter - and Merry Christmas everyone!

Oh well... I know it's not exactly the gift one expects from Christmas, but it's from the heart! :)
This is a song by KISS, called Strutter. Originally recorded in 1973 and released in 1974, it features two rhythm guitars and 2 solos (one at the middle and one at the end of the song).
It was written by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, and this is what I call rock and roll!
Merry KISSmas to all!
Carlos

My bad!

I know some of you tried to listen to the songs I posted, but I made a mess and did not link the songs the right way!
BUT, everything's ok now! Click on the titles and you should be able to listen to them fine!
Thanks! Hope you like 'em!

Ballad #1

For my second "feature", I'd like to present a simple ballad (also written by Mr. GarageBand). I developed a guitar solo for this base track, and I really like it!
Again, this was recorded on take one, with my Gibson Les Paul plugged directly into the MacBook Pro!
Take care everyone!
Carlos

Blues #1

To start things off, I recorded a blues solo with my Les Paul over a base track which already came with GarageBand! A simple homage to  B.B. King.
Click on the post's title to download and listen to the song
Take care!
Carlos.
